Arrow Studios sits at Arrow Junction, on the quiet rural edge of Arrowtown where the Crown Range Road meets State Highway 6. It's one of the best-connected locations in the Wakatipu Basin: you're a few minutes from Arrowtown's historic village, a short hop from Queenstown Airport, and at the gateway to the Gibbston wine region. Yet you wake to birdsong, rural tranquility and alpine views.

Getting here

Arrow Studios is located at 45 Arrow Junction Road, Arrowtown, Otago 9173. Easy to reach from every direction:

  • From Queenstown Airport: about a 10–15 minute drive via SH6.
  • From Queenstown: roughly 20 minutes, either along SH6 past Lake Hayes or the scenic route over the hill past Coronet Peak.
  • From Wānaka: about an hour over the spectacular Crown Range Road, New Zealand's highest sealed highway which begins right at the doorstep of Arrow Junction.
  • From Cromwell, Dunedin or Christchurch: follow SH6 through the Kawarau Gorge.

There's free off-street parking at both cottages.

Ski areas within easy reach

In winter you're spoilt for choice. Coronet Peak, the closest area, with night skiing, is a short drive, while The Remarkables, Cardrona Alpine Resort and Treble Cone are both within comfortable driving range.

Bike trails from the doorstep

Arrow Studios sits right on the Queenstown Trail, a 130km network of trails winding through the Wakatipu Valley. From the door you can pick up the Arrow River Bridges Trail and ride a relaxed 6kms to Arrowtown, crossing the Arrow River over an historic suspension bridge or head to the Gibbston Valley wine region passing over the Kawarau Bungy Bridge and onto the Gibbston Valley wineries. The trail will soon open an additional 32 Kms, following the magnificent Kawarau river to the wine region of Bannockburn. Bring your own bikes, hire e-bikes in Arrowtown or have them delivered to the Cottages.

Gibbston Valley wine country

45 Arrow Junction Rd is located close to the turnoff to Gibbston Valley, the nearest wine region to Queenstown and the birthplace of Central Otago Pinot Noir. Spend a day tasting your way along the valley, from the cellar doors and wine cave at Gibbston Valley Winery to the boutique producers nearby, then enjoy lunch among the vines.

Historic Arrowtown

Just up the road, Arrowtown is one of New Zealand's best-preserved gold-rush towns. Wander the heritage main street, visit the Lakes District Museum and explore the Chinese goldminers' settlement, try your hand at gold panning in the Arrow River or enjoy a swim in the the nearby river. In summer, the tree shaded swimming holes along the Arrow River are a local favourite on a hot day.

Wherever your days take you, the slopes, the trails, the wineries or simply the patio with a glass in hand, Arrow Studios is located in the middle of it all.
